The Best Catholic Apps for Men in 2026

The best Catholic apps for men cover four needs: prayer (Hallow, Amen, Ascension, iBreviary or Laudate), fraternity and discipline (Exodus 90), purity (Covenant Eyes' Victory apps, Ever Accountable or Relay, none of them Catholic), and Confession (Holier or Confess). Most men need one app from two or three of these groups, not all of them: start with daily prayer and regular Confession, and add the rest as your life calls for it.
We make Holier, one of the apps below. We've tried to be fair, including where another app is the better pick.

Which Catholic prayer apps are best for men?
A man's prayer life usually has to fit around work, a commute and a family. These apps make that easier in different ways. Details are from each App Store listing (October 2026).
Hallow
Hallow is an audio-guided prayer and meditation app with more than 10,000 sessions, from the Rosary and Lectio Divina to Ignatian Examen sessions, plus a journal after each prayer and challenges such as Pray40. The free tier includes daily prayers, the Rosary and a nine-day introductory challenge; the subscription is $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. It's on iPhone and Android, and it's the best pick if you pray best by listening, in the car or on a walk.
Amen
Amen, from the Augustine Institute, is free with no in-app purchases. It offers prayer, Bible study and meditation audio: several Rosary formats, daily readings with Dr. Tim Gray, Lectio Divina, sleep stories and a prayer journal. It's a strong free choice for audio prayer, on iPhone and Android.
Ascension
Ascension: Catholic Bible, from Ascension Press, brings together the Bible, the Catechism, the Rosary and the "in a Year" podcasts, with a paid Full Access subscription at $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year. It suits a man who wants to understand Scripture and the faith, not only pray.
iBreviary and Laudate
If you want to pray with the Church's own words, iBreviary TS Plus gives you the Breviary, the Missal and the Lectionary in ten languages, with the rites for the sacraments, for free. Laudate is a free all-in-one reference: Mass readings, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Bible, many chaplets and rosaries, the Catechism and several confession guides. Its App Privacy label says Data Not Collected.
Is Exodus 90 worth it for Catholic men?
Exodus 90: Catholic Men's App runs the Exodus 90 program (and St. Michael's Lent) through daily reflections and disciplines aimed at "freedom from unhealthy attachments", done with a fraternity of other men. It costs $9.99 a month or $89.99 a year after a 14-day free trial, on iPhone and Android, and it's rated 18+.
It's the best app here for brotherhood and self-discipline. It's demanding by design, and it works best with real men you meet or talk to, not alone. Its App Privacy label lists your address, phone number, name, email and location as data linked to you.
What apps help Catholic men with purity?
Many men bring lust to Confession, and there's no shame in using tools. They fall into a few kinds; only the last is Catholic:
- Accountability and blocking. Covenant Eyes publishes Victory Shield, which blocks explicit sites and shares screenshots from Safari with an ally you choose (purchases from $19.99 to $219.99; account required), and Victory by Covenant Eyes, a free app for check-ins, short courses and a community that prays for one another. Ever Accountable detects explicit content on the device and sends weekly reports to partners you pick, from $9.99 a month.
- A recovery group. Relay puts you in a small, anonymous, gender-separated group with video lessons and check-ins.
- A Catholic speed bump. Little Way's Premium Prayer Shield asks you to pray a Hail Mary before opening apps you choose.
The Church teaches that pornography is grave matter (CCC 2354). Whether a fall is a mortal sin also depends on full knowledge and deliberate consent (CCC 1857 to 1859), and habit can lessen responsibility (CCC 1735). Bring it to your confessor rather than judging your own case alone. We compare these tools in Catholic apps for porn addiction and Covenant Eyes alternatives for Catholics.
Which app helps men prepare for Confession?
Confess: Catholic Confession is free, on iPhone and iPad, with no account. It offers a quick daily check, a full examination by state of life, and a "Going Today" walkthrough that ends on a private confession screen, with a running confession list and Catechism references on every question. Its listing says your data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, with no iCloud sync and no server communication, and its App Privacy label says Data Not Collected. There's no Android version yet. On Android, Metanoia (free, open source, also on iPhone) and ConfessIt (free, with a web version) are good choices.
Holier: Catholic Confession is a new iPhone app from Reconciled Software (iOS 17.6 or later; no Android). Each night it guides a short examination of conscience as a chat in the Ignatian examen tradition, and anything you name goes onto a numbered confessional list that opens with "Bless me, Father". When temptation hits, it offers a chat with encouragement and a prayer. It counts the days since your last Confession and examen, and has a passcode lock. Your sin list is encrypted on your iPhone with a key that never leaves it; conversations are processed to power the AI, then discarded. You sign in with Apple. The download is free; full use requires a subscription of $7.99 a week, $79.99 a year, or $149.99 once, according to its App Store listing (October 2026), with no free trial. It prepares you; only a priest absolves.
Holier isn't the right pick if you're on Android, want a free app, are buying for a child, would rather not have AI involved, or want audio prayers. It also doesn't filter or block anything and has no accountability partner: nobody gets a report. For those, Confess or Metanoia (free and offline; Metanoia is also on Android), Hallow (audio prayer) or Victory Shield (blocking) fit better.
How should a Catholic man build his app stack?
- One prayer app you'll actually open. Audio (Hallow, Amen) if you pray while moving; text (iBreviary, Laudate) if you want the Church's own prayers.
- One way to get ready for Confession. A short examen each night, and a list ready when you go. See the examination of conscience for men and how to go to Confession.
- Brothers. Exodus 90, a parish men's group, or one friend who asks the hard question.
- Purity tools if you need them. No shame in it. Start with how to quit porn as a Catholic.
Then put the phone down. The apps are a help, not the point. The point is a living friendship with God, and regular Confession, where only a priest can absolve you. If it's been a while, start with what to say in Confession, and if you keep confessing the same thing, read confessing the same sins over and over.
Holier helps you prepare for Confession. It is not a priest and does not give absolution. For questions about your own situation, talk to a priest.
